Thanks for the Heads Up.

Seems like barely a day goes past now when we are not updating some piece of software, firmware, or some such!

I rue the day when I get up in the morning and my espresso machine reports it needs to update its firmware before it can make me a morning lat'e!

"Lightroom 2.5 includes a correction to the demosaic algorithms for Bayer sensor cameras with unequal green response."

Anyone know what the implications of this tid-bit are?

I saw that in the release notes as well and immediately googled it to see if there was anything further on it - only found this

Olympus, Panasonic and Sony are among the more popular camera manufacturers affected by this change. But the demosaic correction provides only a subtle visual improvement to the processing of those raw files.

It'd be nice if they found & fixed the 'use gradient tool, cross fingers that LR doesn't freeze/hang' bug

Jeremy, there will be a (very slight) resolution improvement when processing files from certain cameras. As noted above the popular makers of recent such models include Sony, Olympus and Panasonic. You'd have to be doing some serious pixel peeping to see the difference, however.

Did ACR 5.5 get released as well or is it still in beta?

Yes it did.  And Eric addressed the "green" issue in that thread.  It is located on the "Adobe Camera Raw" section of these forums.

Cheers...

One of the things the update does is to replace the old HTML web engine that I had modified to get around the "bin" problem that my ISP doesn't like!  While it was only a minor thing, it still meant I had to go back and swap out the LRWEB file, Grid, and Details files for the modified ones.  This is one thing that the Lightroom engineers should fix in a future update as most any ISP that uses  the Windows interface doesn't like the "bin" file folder.
