Timo, The second one just brings on some mild nostalgia for my youth in northern Michigan, but the first one is an exceptionally fine piece of work. The light is wonderful, the composition is balanced, the color is good, and the fog in the background adds a kind of delicacy that draws me into the picture. Bravo!
-
LOVE the first one. Gorgeous.
-
Echoing the others I really like the first shot. I love this kind of soft light, and the soft colors that often go along with it. The fog is a nice touch, and I really like the symmetry of the composition with the fence line mirroring the path.
The second shot seems like a fairly standard "aspens in autumn" shot; nice, but familiar.
-
Wow man, esp. the first. But also the second is damned fine.
-
Piling on. A very good shot (#2), and a great shot (#1). These are keepers.
-
Not much to add, great shots. Looks like an early autumn for you.

I'm with the rest - 1st shot preferred.

The first one is spectacular! The second one doesn't do much for me.
-
I just love #1: the converging lines of the fence posts and the road melting away into the mist make the image for me.
-
I'm beginning to feel like a salmon here! I like the first one, it's really well done, but I prefer the second. To each his or her own...!

Love the first one. Just want to jump straight into the picture and go see what's there at the end of the road. Marvellous.
-
I like the second one quite a bit. All the dark stuff in the foreground of the first bugs me. Other than that it is nice.
-
If either of these shots had come from my camera, I'd be very happy.

Timo,
Both images are really good. If I had to choose one that would be the first one. Two suggestions on your first image: I think that the sky doesn't add too much to the overall feeling of the image so you may want to crop it so that the image becomes (almost) square. Also, the bottom part contains a lot of very dark shadows which you may want to lighten a bit.
Regards,
- Christos

Me too. Leave it as it is!

Me, three!
Don't touch it.

I re-thought it. The current version of #1 is very nice (as was mentioned many times) but a square like Christos suggested indeed works for me too.
