Title: Portraits of Love
Post by: wolfnowl on September 03, 2009, 02:03:26 am
Hi Folks:

This was over on Jeff Revell's blog site: http://www.revellphotography.com/blog/?p=3706 (http://www.revellphotography.com/blog/?p=3706)

"Running a fairly popular blog, I often receive requests to write about upcoming events or products.  While I may not always be able to accommodate every request, I couldn’t pass when my buddy Zach Heath contacted me about a very special cause called Portraits of Love.

So here’s the deal, all during the month of September, hundreds of photographers will volunteer their time, talents, and studios to take free portraits for families of service members serving overseas.  The goal is to provide these portraits to our troops that will be serving away from their families during the holidays. Once the family has had their portrait taken, a print will be sent, free of charge, directly to the soldier in Iraq, Afghanistan, or wherever they are deployed around the world.  The goal of the project is to send 10,000 free family portraits during the month of September.  This effort is being organized by the PhotoImaging Manufacturers and Distributors Association (PMDA) along with Soldiers’ Angels, a grassroots volunteer organization.

If you would like to get involved by offering your services or maybe you or someone you know would like to have a portrait sent to your soldier this holiday season, make sure you check out the official Portraits of Love (http://www.pmdaportraitsoflove.com/) website for all the details."
