Went to our local zoo last week and saw this chap sunning himself.
I have passed this through C1 but made no adjustments.
Just looking for advice, comments (good or bad)
Thanks

Ard, It's an interesting shot the way it is. About the only thing it needs is a black point, a white point and some contrast between the two. In other words, to me it appears a bit flat. Even flat, though, it's pretty darn good.

Thanks, much appreciated. I see what you mean. Had a play, what you think

Definitely better, but when I download the image and bring it up in Photoshop it's a very different image. Here's what I see on my monitor in Photoshop:

The color profile for my upload is sRGB, which is what the download also claims to be. Photoshop tells me you did your editing in CS2 and I'm working with CS4, but I'm mystified about the color and contrast difference. The only thing I can think is that since you've linked from http://i31.tinypic.com (http://i31.tinypic.com), the server is doing something to the image as it uploads.
Anyone have any ideas?

Interesting. I've attached the photo straight from PC. Tinypic must alter the colour/contrast
Thanks for the help on this, much appreciated

Your latest thumbnail looks just like Russ's, but when I click on it the full size looks weird like the first post.
Russ's full size looks just like his thumbnail.
That's weird.

Same thing happens here, Dave. Anyone out there have any ideas about this phenomenon?

Whiten his/her teeth. And make the water more blue.Would you swim in water or smile with teeth like that? The shot is good, but now it's about the critter in the shot.
Just my opinion.

As a portrait photographer I always thought it was bad form to shoot up a persons nose. But I suppose the upside is that you have minimised the double chin!

Thanks for the replies.
Heres another shot of him with the mouth closed (well almost), agreed, he could do with some whitening lol

WOW - that looks nothing like it did before I up loaded it. I'll check calibration of my monitors

It ain't TinyPic's fault ... you are uploading jpegs to the web that aren't sRGB.
The ICC profile is: "Canon EOS 1d Mkii generic v2"

Thanks for the help, for some reason the profile has changed in the camera.
With regard to colour settings, is it best to work Adobe 1998 from camera to final processing, then convert to sRGB for web
Here is the photo again adjusted to sRGB

Jeremy, Good catch. I went back into Bridge and saw that you're right. Earlier I just glanced at the mode and saw "RGB." Duh!

Here is where I'd go with it.

However, my edit feels a little empty. Almost as if this is the same place the in-camera editing of a point and shoot digicam would go. It needs the touch of an artist.

The water looks a lot better, given me something to aim for - thanks

We would need to understand your workflow a little better ... are you shooting RAW? What do you use to do RAW conversion and what do you use to manage your library?
I use Lightroom and shoot RAW. Lightroom uses PhotoProRGB as its working space. When I edit in other apps, I export in PhotoPro and re-import back into Lightroom.
When I export from LR for the web or email, I use sRGB.
I personally like PhotoPro as my primary working space, but AdobeRGB isn't a bad choice either - depends on your needs and equipment and intentions for output.

Thanks. I always shoot RAW and tend to use C1. However, I have read good things about Lightroom, so might give that a go. Occasionally I use Pixmantec Rawshooter Premium. If I'm processing day to day shots I save as jpeg, but if it's a photo I want to spend time on I'll save as TIFF before importing into Photoshop.
Is the upgrade from Photoshop CS2 to CS4 worth it?

For what you're doing I'd say no.
