Title: Profiling Canon Pro9500 Mark II

Printing from Photoshop CS4 on MacPro running OS 10.5.8. No success in making custom profiles for  a Canon Pro9500 Mk II using MonacoProfiler Platinum & i1Pro UV Cut.

The main problem is turning off color management in Canon's printer driver to print our MonacoProfiler RGB targets. Under Color Handling in Photoshop CS4's print window, "No color Management" is selected. When the Canon Printer Settings window appears, the choices under "Color Matching" are grayed out and the "Color Mode" menu under "Color Options" is also grayed out.

Canon's Tech Support says both of these printer window behaviors are normal and are controlled by selecting "No Color Management" in Photoshop CS4. The problem is the printed targets appear very UNSATURATED when they are printed, even the black patches are merely dark gray.

We've made many custom profiles over the last several years for a variety of Epson Photo & Pro Stylus printers as well as Canon imagePROGRAF series printers with great success. In each case our MonacoProfiler targets printed with significantly more saturation. Is it safe to assume that in this case the printers color management is infact not turned off?

Hi Barry,

One way to possibly confirm whether CM is off or on is to check the 100% patch in your target.  In Photoshop use the eyedropper to find the location of the target patch that is calling for 100% yellow (255=R, 255=G, 0=Blue).  Then, when you know where the patch is, look at this patch on your printed target:  If there are any other inks in there besides yellow, that is confirmation that CM is happening.
