Just curious what people like to manage their movie files?

Just curious what people like to manage their movie files?
Im doing the same as ever..
Searchable Keyworded Text database of 'shoots'*
shoot date recorded in that text database
Many HDs organised by Date directories in (2 copies 2 locations) eg HD14a/2009_06/2009_06_03/Canon5dRAW, HD14a/2009_06/2009_06_03/NikonNEF, HD14a/2009_06/2009_06_03/RetouchedTiffs etc
However Im not sure about constructing movies shot over many days/months
currently copying each required day to a seperate HD until I have ammassed the 'rushes' for my movie and then editing from there

*my system is a little more complex because I have a cache of thumbnails viewable by searchable web interface but 'store by date' is my mantra

I'm pretty sure I've seen a plugin for Lightroom that let it catalogue videos as well as images, though I think it could only import them off your hard drive.
EDIT: I think this was it: http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/video-assets (http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/video-assets)
I have no idea how well it works as I don't use it myself though.

I'm still using the last version of iView MediaPro before MS bought it. Works great even for the 5DII movie files. You can play them, keyword, star, rename everything just like still photos. A visual database that is searchable is far easier than just a text database. We are visual artists.
But can it handle offline HDs
Im shooting a TB a month or so now so any online (ie on my network or the web) solution is a little costly
incdentally my system does store thumbnails for visual reference

Sony Picture Motion Browser (PMB) is surprisingly good for OEM software. It is dedicated to AVCHD files though. For more common files (MOV, AVI, Etc.) many common photo browsers do a good job. I've used ACDSee, Windows Live Photo Gallery and Picasa with good success.
