Title: Z3100 printing troubles
Post by: TJM on June 25, 2009, 11:57:52 pm
I'm printing with a z3100 using a Mac. I'm connected to the printer using USB.  I think that the computer automatically updated the print driver, it seems, as the layout of the print driver has changed.  Regardless, when I print a file the printer does nothing.  The display on the printer stays "Ready."  The printer status window shows "printing."  It shows nothing in Printer Utility "Job Queue."  If I print a "Image Diagnostic Print" it prints right away, so it seems it can communicate. If I try to submit a job through the print utility it doesn't seem to recognize the file; that it, I browse and choose the file and it doesn't show it as selected in the utility (Or else the print utility crashes and closes).  I also tried using the HP Print preview, and then printing, with the same symptoms.  Does anyone have any advice on this one?  I have restarted and even unplugged  the printer for awhile (yes I was getting desperate).

Thanks alot.

One way or another there's a disconnection. Software wise in the driver most likely. Connection port checked? A plain Z3100 (not the PS version) driven by the PCL3 driver? Not by some weird mistake installed the PS3 driver? I would check which firmware version the printer is on right now and what driver version should be used for that firmware version. Update the firmware if it isn't the latest and install the latest driver.
