To sweeten the deal for forum members, at this price I will also provide a used (but mechanically perfect) Contax 645 body and Contax Zeiss 80/2 AF lens to get you started right a way, free of charge. Think of it as my way of saying 'thanks' and giving back to the communities that have helped me so much.

God I wish I had 15 grand. good Luck David

That is a great price - wish the aussie exchange rate was better!
Good luck with the sale - I am sure at that price it will get snapped up.

I'm dreaming of a way to get this onto my Rollei.....

The funny thing I sold my cn tax system a few years ag to buy a leica system I ahve m8 upgraded shutter framelines worth 3500 a 24 35 50 and 75 lux woth about 9500 and a wate and a mate. for me a leica comes first I have rebought contax a 35 55 80 and a 140 Now about that back well maybe next year.

David and Josh--thank you for your thoughts! Let me know if there's a way that I can tempt you further!
Eric: You might have a chat with Rollei Metric - http://www.rollei-metric.com/index.php?id=...tal&lang=en (http://www.rollei-metric.com/index.php?id=8&sub=61&page=rolleiflex_6008_metric_digital&lang=en). In my many system swaps, I came across an option where they would put a Rollei 6008 mount onto a P45+. It turns out that they are (or at least were) partly owned by Phase One. Whoda thunk it? (I ended up going with a Sinar Hy6 instead).
The P45+ back is still the best single shot back in MF, as far as I'm concerned. While it has 20% less resolution than the P65+, it's available for 1/3 the price or less (great deals used P65+'s are hard to find as it's so new), the P45+ delivers long exposures (an hour or longer, as opposed to 30-60s) and has some characteristics (like smoother areas of flat color, such as sky) that haven't been equalled yet by other backs.

Brad,
Thanks I just sent them an e-mail. I did know that Phase had some investment in Rollei Metric and that it is a separate company from Franke and Heidecke but had always been told that the rollei mount had to be done through Phase and that it could only be done on a new back not a used one. But maybe things changed? Let's see if I get a reply...
I have heard that at least one person (on this board) did the conversion from P20 to P25 on his own successfully. I figure this is a possibility too since I have the p20 in Rollei mount, but a risky one.

What's the plan now?

Quick update - I got a reply back from Rollei-metric that they can not convert the Contax mount to Rollei mount. Too bad!

Eric: That's too bad! I assume they want to start with a V-mount?
Hcubbell: I was just asked this in PM as well-- I'm selling the back because I've pretty much decided to return to small format photography. Since I am a nature photographer wanting to do things like mixed media (video) or shoot with super-teles (500+ mm), I need a small format kit anyway, so rather than run with two kits, two sets of lenses, I've decided to give up the 40 megapixel dream and work with just one system.

Yeah and they want 3500 euros to convert it to Rollei mount as well. I still wonder why this is so expensive?
Yes definitely too bad!
Good luck with your sale!

I've never understood the mount swap pricing, to be frank.
It was worth a shot!

A number of folks have looked at the posting and commented on being interested in the back, but in another mount.
So I've come up with one more option for folks, if it helps:
If you'd like this back in a different mount, I will make all the arrangements to have Phase One change the back to the mount of your choice (H, V or M) for $1K USD.
So that means you will receive a low-actuation or potentially even a new back in the mount of your choice (H, V or M) for only $16K USD.
Hope that helps,
-Brad

Sale pending.
If the sale didn't (or doesn't) go through, let me know asap. My wife and I are in San Francisco on vacation for 4 more days, and I'm quite interested. I'd like, if possible, to eventually use the camera on the Phase One camera body, and that's the only avenue I've explored thus far, so I know little of the Contax system. That said, a P45+ back is enticing at that price.

PS - if interested, email me at alteregohalifax@mac.com for contact info for me while I'm in San Fran. I'm a low-post count member here, however I was on Michael's last Antarctic trip in January, and took his one-on-one printing course last month in Toronto, so while I won't put words in his mouth, I will say at the very leaset, he knows me fairly well.

Hi, Brent,
Thank your for your interest. The sale is proceeding (the buyer's funds are expected to clear in 3 days, at which point I'll mark it as sold.)
I also have a contingent buyer who is waiting, so there's a bit of a line...
I did see another back get posted here after mine went on sale, but I don't remember the mount or the price.
Hope that helps,
-Brad
