Title: My First Here
Post by: astockwell on May 15, 2009, 10:21:08 pm
Hello,

I would like to introduce myself here, I am a Minnesotan, currently living in Connecticut while I serve out my time in the Navy. I primarily shoot landscapes, and do most of my work in Rhode Island, since the shoreline is way more interesting, and less cluttered with houses right up to the shore. I have lurked here for a while, due to the fact I frequent other sites, Dgrin, and http://www.NewSchoolofPhotography.com (http://www.NewSchoolofPhotography.com). So away we go.

Thanks, I have tried on numerous evenings since then to reproduce it, but haven't been able to yet. Everytime I try to setup in the slack between waves breaking, I can never time the wave coming across right, or the wave touches the tripod, and messes up the shot. Must have gotten kinda lucky that evening. This is one of my favorite shots.

Like those rock shots!  I've been sitting here all evening putting mock-upped PS frames around images, really boring and I'm just not into it.  Here's the perfect frame for those rocks, just happened to have it already open on a layer!  Others may choose to differ.  20 x 30 image, linen liner, coated canvas, no silly glass.

Wow, that frame looks really great. I would love to see that frame in reality. Nice

Excellent work! Take a trip over to Block Island if you can; I think that there is a ferry from Westerly or thereabouts. Interesting, attractive place if you are there post-tourist season.
Nice to see another Pentax user on here.

Nice work Andy. There are a lot of opportunities around here (especially off the beaten track) and you've obviously found some of them. I see you've also discovered how fickle the ocean can be. I found some deposits of garnet sand in Waterford that a storm exposed last February and I managed to get some nice abstracts, but I've been back at least a dozen times since under similar conditions and they haven't reappeared. Get it while you can I suppose. FYI: If you do any further rock prowling around Narragansett, the rocks off Hazard Ave. look benign but they can be extremely dangerous, especially when wet. Once you go in there's no way out. Somebody drowns over there just about every year. If you have any questions about the area, drop me a PM or give me a ring.

The 3rd one looks killer but I love them all!
