Title: D90 video autofocus on zoom
Post by: Steve Last on May 13, 2009, 07:50:58 am
Hi, can any of you who have made video using the D90 advise me whether an object which is intially in focus will remain in focus if I zoom in or out it in video mode? (I know it does not autofocus in video mode so I have a suspicion he answer will be NO, but can't find confirmation anywhere).

I need some stills plus + video of buildings: the video would be slow pans on a tripod with zoom in and out to points of particular interest, and some walkaround shots. The other is for a safari holiday trip whjich would be mostly stills but occasionally switching into video without having to change (or even carry 2) cameras. Also, does anyone have any thoughts about using a Tamron 18-270 VR lens on a D90 for either stills or video?

that depends on the lens - some sustain focus during a zoom - some dont

most likely the modern costly stuff (14-24) etc do while old and cheap dont
