Title: Black borders in LR 2.3
Post by: Philippe on April 26, 2009, 03:24:52 am
I have LR 2.3 on a Mac OSX 10.5.6.
I wonder if it is possible to make black borders, ore others, around pictures in LR, the same way it is done in P.S. —> canvas.
Perhaps this might be wishful thinking and should add this on the 'dreaded' L. R.  3 wish-list  ?

Thank you,

Philippe

Hi Phillippe!

You can put a stroke around the image in the Print module. It is in the Image Settings panel on the right. You can choose the color and the thickness.

depemding on just what you want to do, look at LR2 Mogrify

http://timothyarmes.com/lr2mogrify.php (http://timothyarmes.com/lr2mogrify.php)

which adds the ability to lots of things on an export

Thank you, This looks good, but how to 'save' and export this changes?

It's mainly intended for printing, but in the right panel Print Job you can choose the "printer" to be JPEG output.

But it all depends what you want to achieve. This Print method is fine for proofs, but the output file has no metadata whatsoever and its filename differs from the original. The Mogrify option is OK if the exported file is the final rendition of the image, but not if you intend to do further processing elsewhere since the border is now baked into the pixels.

Hi Phillipe,

I use Lr/Mogrify and apply the borders as an option when I export the images from Lightroom.  In fact I use it to add a triple border, a thin white one, a wider grey one and another thin white one.  I also add a title to the image using Mogrify, so the exported file is ready to upload to my website...

I have send Mogrify an e-mail, I do not have (do not want, been robbed twice) a credit card to donate...
