Title: Catchin' Some Sun - Rocky Mountain National Park
Post by: mtnmanjc on April 06, 2009, 02:13:51 pm
Hey Everyone,

Here is an image from yesterday up in Rocky Mountain National Park. After snowshoeing I ran into some coyotes on the way out of the park. Here is one image from that encounter.

Catchin' Some Sun (http://mountain-man-photography.com/wordpress/?p=46)

All Critiques and Comments are greatly appreciated!!!

Joel, It's a nice snapshot but why did you put the critter dead center in the frame?

Rules are made to be broke - this works fine for me.

Actually the rock dominates the center more than the coyote.

Well, it looks fine to me. It has overall balance, which is an important principle. The image looks like and reminds me of a Robert Bateman painting, and he too sometimes placed animals in the centre of his paintings. I love the shadowless lighting, which brings the entire scene to life.

Who said anything about "rules?"

Usually laws are tougher than rules, and in compositions, if you break the rules, the laws may sink your ship.
