A few images shot last weekend (Saturday) at Trona.
Really am in love with that place. As always would appreciate any comments as it helps.

I also have a few other images from Trona at:

Well done!

In my opinion, these two shots require different print sizes.  The first, to my eye, would look best printed large, say 24 to 36 inches or greater, given its "contrast frequency" (for lack of a better term)- it needs to breath, so to speak.  I suspect its aggressive tones will not fight one another on a large canvas.

I prefer the second, at least at these small sizes.  The contrast in the sky seems more muted with respect to the foreground, providing a soothing, "yin/yang" effect.  It would perhaps look best in the 15-20 inch range.

Mitch:

Both are excellent, but the first one really pops out at me.  By the way, I just received your folio from Lenswork the other day.  Superb work!

Every time I pass that way going to Death Valley I mean to stop and make time to photograph.  These make it even more difficult NOT to stop.

As always, terrific work.

Peter, I was at the Pinnacles last Saturday (2/7). Arrived about 2pm and shot until about 6pm.
It was a trip (fun) crossing Searles Dry Lake right after the heavy rains.

I appreciate everyone's feedback.
It really does help to keep me on track. - Mitch

Mitch,

Outstanding work! I followed the link to your website, and loved the entire collection. I was wondering if you used a Tilt-shift lens for the urban landscapes?

And it is a stunning portfolio. It will be a bargain even after the price goes up, but it's even more of a bargain right now.

The APS-C sensor sized Sony with the Carl Zeiss 24-100 something?  Neat.

Yep, I think the camera (especially the R1s optics and optical path) is something special.

Mitch, when I asked how long you were at Trona, it was because of the extraordinary quality of the images you presented.

I imagined the reply would have been something like "Oh, several weeks."

Congratulations on your timing and your taking advantage thereof.
