It sure is an interesting picture, I have never seen a crawling tree before!  I guess it got thirsty.  Remind me to never pitch my tent anywhere near that thing.

Nice color and tonality.  An enjoyable photograph worthy of viewing.

Well, there are some trees like yellow birch that tend to grow out of hemlock stumps, so when the stump rots away you're left with the roots hanging in the air.  In this case I'd say it's probably wave erosion...

Wonderful image. Like Mike says tells the story of erosion. I can see a colour cast, perhaps from sunrise or sunset.
