Title: 35mm Lens resolving Power / Digital SLR

Hi,

I've been hearing recently that the current top level sensors (such as the one in the 1DS) are now exceeding the capabilities of the lenses that are available.

Firstly, I would like to ask - is this true?

Secondly, if this is the case, then does anyone have any theories as to where this may lead? For example, does this mean that we have eeffectively reached a new watershed that can only be improved upon with better designed lenses? Will there be a need to increase the sensors ability to capture detail?

Bruce.
