I've searched this forum for a comparison of colorimeters, but I've not been able to find what I am looking for. I apologize, because I suspect this has been discussed many times.
I see many colorimeters on the market, but I have not seen much in the way of differentiating features. For instance, there is the 'i1 display 2' and 'i1 display LT', both of which seem to have similar functionality. I also see similar products from Spyder (Spyder 2 express, Spyder 3 Pro).
What are the differences between the entry level colorimeters and the next level? What features should I be looking for? Are there web sites that evaluate and review colorimeters?
I am looking for a colorimeter for basic monitor calibration for photo editing. I am not currently doing any printing, but that could be in the future. (I do have a video projector I use for movies, so calibrating that would be nice, but not critical)
Thanks,
Jonathan

All the EyeOne Display-2's are the same hardware, you're getting differing software.
Spyder 2? Pass, POS. The 3 is said to be better, don't know, I've never played with one. But I've had nothing but good luck with X-rite hardware.
What kind of display?

I've borrowed a xrite Display 1 and it works very nicely.
I have a cheap monitor - SOYA.

I'd stick with that then.

So would I.
This page (http://www.imagescience.com.au/ColourControl/colourProducts/gmUsingEyeOneDisplay.html) will give you plenty of guidance.

The display 1 is no longer produced, and I was not sure what I would lose going for the LT version. There are also cheaper options such as the Spyder 2 express.

A significant difference is the ability to calibrate wide gamut monitors - e.g., Spyder 2 cannot, Spyder 3 can.

Thanks! That was the type of detail I was looking for.
