Dear dark penquin, walter.sk & rich owens.
Thanks again for all your replies. they're very much appreciated. Of course your all correct. I've been down the tripod route before. I will invest in calibration software and equipment when the time comes. What's a Huey? Also I see ads for Spyder equipment and software. any good?

Two or three more payments on my newegg account I will be guying.

A huey is just the cheapest calibration tool I've seen.  I'd probably get something better.  I wouldn't get an original spyder.  But a spyder 2 or 3 would probably be fine.

The one I use (Monaco Optix Xr) isn't made any more.
