Title: Canon 300D/Rebel AF not working
Post by: Jonathan Wienke on March 04, 2004, 05:43:39 pm
Get the camera repaired or replaced; it's broken. If getting a replacement from the store is feasible, I'd try that avenue first, and then go for a repair.

Today my Canon 300D decided that it didn't want to autofocus any more. I've tried two different lenses with the same result (yes I had the AF switch on). I've tried "resetting" the camera by removing the time/date battery, and clearing all the settings but still no luck.

I called Canon tech support and as soon as I got through the phone menu I had someone on the line.     He went through the obvious and then recommended I send it in for factory servicing. I have an extended warranty through a local retailer and it would be alot easier just to get a replacement and let them deal with it. I was just wondering if anyone had similar problems and whether or not this will be an ongoing issue unless I get it "repaired".

And I hate to be without a camera for who knows how long...
