Title: Shotgun Mic + Light Combo on the hotshoe?
Post by: bkw on December 02, 2008, 12:57:24 pm
hey all!
Picked up my 5DM2 yesterday and have been tinkering around with the video functionality of the camera.

First thing I noticed was the astonishing difference between the quality of the video versus the subpar sound. The onboard mic would pick up handling noise and the quality of the sound doesnt seem right. Kinda like driving a ferrari with the engine of a yugo.. know what I mean?

Anyways, after a bunch of research I (think I) want the Senn MKE400, but was wondering if I could kill two birds with one stone. Meaning, does anyone manufacture a hotshoe mounted mic with an integrated light (ie- bright LED or something) to help light up details?

Just wondering..

Thanks!
Brian

I have never seen a combined light and microphone...!

My advice is to buy a microphone like the Sennheiser MKE400 or RĂ˜DE VM and
a LED videolight , f.ex. Litepanels Micro.
