The Canon 50mm f/1.8 is one of my favorite lenses. Here are some shots taken with it. Although I am pretty happy with the bokeh and sepia effects, I can't help wonder how interesting or boring the subject matter is. I've tried to make "regular" things seem appealing (at least to the eye) by experimenting with tight cropping and angles.

I like both of the images you posted, but particularly like the mood and texture of the second image of the piano. From the looks of it on your site, you are wearing out the wider apertures on that lens! I'm a big fan of selective focus as well. I think the everyday subject matter works very well when left simple and natural, and less well when it looks too composed or arranged. Your strongest shots are more of observations and less like still lifes.
