Title: Problem with the ImageBank
Post by: A.K. on October 06, 2008, 05:08:58 pm
Hello,

Have just tried to connect the ImageBank to a MBP, but nothing happened: the software does not see the unit. After disconnecting the FireWire cable the I was unable to shut down the ImageBank, had to remove the battery. After that the unit started, but refused to shut down again. Connected the DB — everything was working properly. Took a shot, deleted it and only then was able to shut the unit down properly. But FlexColor still does not see it. All the functions run smoothly (image capture, browsing from the back etc. Reinstalling and rebooting did not helped. I am running Tiger and thus cannot try Phocus. FC version is 486, IB firmware version is 224/24. The back is a 132c.
Has anybody faced such a problem? What are the possible causes and solutions?

You might try this:

Restoring Firmware
Firmware to control the operation of the Ixpress is stored on the Image Bank.  This
firmware is updated automatically through FlexColor when new software versions are
released.
It is also possible to manually force the firmware to be loaded to the Image Bank if you
are experiencing technical issues.  This operation will normally have to be done if the
LED on the image bank is showing RED or is not be recognised by FlexColor
1\  With nothing attached to the Image Bank and with FlexColor NOT running press and
hold in the power button on the Image Bank
2\  Continuing to hold in the power button, attach the Image Bank to your computer and
wait until the LED turns red.
3\  It is now safe to release the power button.  The Image Bank is now in ‘Boot Mode’
4\  Launch FlexColor and wait until the firmware has been updated, indicated by the
dialogue on screen.
5\  Quit FlexColor and unplug the Image Bank
The Image Bank is now ready for use.
Cheers, raf

Thank you. Have tried the software update, but nothing happens: FlexColor does not see the IB in boot mode also.
Probably my FW port was somehow damaged, but the IB is still starting, when it is attached in OFF position — the LED glows green and the drive is running. I think, if the socket was damaged, it would not show any signs at all. But who knows..
