Title: Zeiss Planar 50/1.7 on E3?
Post by: Deep on October 05, 2008, 06:17:46 am
I have the chance to get a Zeiss Planar 50/1.7 in a Contax mount, plus an adaptor to use this on four thirds cameras, at a fraction of the price of the ZD 50/2.  I can live with step down metering and manual focus as I would use it for fairly controlled portrait work.  It would mount on an E3 which has an adequate viewfinder.  What I would like to know is this:  will this top quality lens designed for film still be sharp enough when it has to resolve what a 10Mp 4/3 sensor can record?  I have had a couple of Planars on my Rolleis and love them but have no experience of the Contax 35mm versions.

I have a few days to decide.  Thanks in advance to anyone who has experience of this lens!
