Title: 11880 ink cartridge error
Post by: Wayne Fox on September 23, 2008, 01:04:54 am
Been printing all evening, suddenly my left 11880 door pops open and says I have an ink cartridge error.  The cartridge is about 85% full.

Anything I can do other than getting a new one from the dealer?  I've taken it out and shaken it a few times.  Perhaps the chip is toast.

If replacement is required, I assume I need to get a new one and replace it, then take the defective one back?  Or can I take the defective one out, leaving it out of the printer for several hours. (Does this dry anything out or cause a problem?)

Wayne

call Epson Tech Support. They will Overnight you a replacement Cartridge..

The Dealer Might Take it back but The actual procedure is to call Epson.

There is an air bubble blocking the ink flow. Just tap the front of the cartridge against the palm of your hand - firmly.

Thanks for this tip.  I'll remember it for future reference, though at this point the problem cartridge has been replaced by my dealer.  That explains why gently shaking it got it working for a while, then it died again.  I don't think I tried shaking it the second time, just took it back to the dealer.
