I can not phrase what it is about this photograph that I feel is lacking.  I know it is not your skill with animals because your gallery has some wonderful animal photos especially the "Baboons", "Croc Tail", "Kennedy", and "Graham".  The picture seems lifeless and I am not sure what to do about it.

It is becauset the head is turned away so that the eyes are not showing.  Eyes bring a mammal to life...

I think it is a GREAT portrait of a skinny lion.Maybe they should look like that though.My dog is fat!

Good photo. It conveys a bit of the majestic nature of this animal. He is completely at ease, because he knows he is king.

If pushed to find something to improve I would tone down the light leaves/stalks above his mane. They attract my eye too much, but that could be just me being picky.
