Title: 16gb SDHC cards - any REALLY fast?
Post by: narikin on August 11, 2008, 02:56:59 pm
I'm a firm believer in Sandisk card technology, but they don't do a 16Gb SDHC card, as yet, whilst everyone else is selling their 16Gb for less than Sandisk's 8gb Extreme III (which is very fast)

anyone got a transcend/ridata/lexar/adata or whatever they can truly recommend as almost Sandisk fast?

those 'class 6' stamps seem to differentiate little between good, very good and blazing write/read rates, so it is nigh impossible to tell.

sadly Rob Galbraith seems to stick to lower capacities in SD card analysis, though some other brands e.g. Lexar dont do so badly.

Sandisk does make a 16GB SDHC card----but it is an Ultra II.

I prefer Sandisk Extreme III and IV CF cards----the SD cards are just too tiny!  But the 16GB SD is a great backup/overflow card for the second memory card slot on the 1Ds Mark III.

The cards seem to get relatively slower as they get bigger, i.e., all other things equal, a 16GB card is going to be slower than an 8GB.
