Title: Quivira Natl Wildlife Refuge, KS
Post by: Jeff Donald on October 24, 2003, 12:15:53 pm
It's an amazing place.  I get there once or twice a year (spring and fall migration) and I've been doing it for about 10 years.  What would you like to know?

Generally, no. Almost all NWR close at sunset.  You might contact the refuge manger for permission.  I don't know if exceptions are granted very often.

While visiting nearby with family during the first week of November, I'm planning on several sunset shoots at Quivira.  I understand 19000 Sandhill Cranes arrived yesterday and the Snow Geese are expected in the next few days.

This'll be my first opportunity to check out Quivira.  Has anyone been there recently?

Jeff, are there any time restrictions?  Can one stay after sunset awhile?
