Title: CaptureOne Pro 3.7 & 4 (C1 Pro & C1 4) on Canon 5D
Post by: wesley on April 04, 2008, 09:39:19 am
Hello all,

I have been a CaptureOne Pro user for a couple of years and thought I'll try out the C1 4. Amongst the huge changes in the user interface, I found that the output image has different characteristics. The only thing I really like about the new C1 is the variant feature, otherwise it feels 'fat', not as lean as C1 Pro 3.7.

On C1 Pro 3.7, the image has smoother details (default settings, no shadow/highlight recovery, no sharpening, no noise reduction). This is totally unscientific but the C1 Pro 3.7 image color/tone I see on default is closer LCD rendition of my 5D vs C1 4. My monitor is profiled.

On C1 4 with the same settings, the there's more detail but the image is slightly more noisy, I notice it especially in shots with clear skies. I also notice that I can see more in the shadows vs C1 Pro 3.7.

Any C1 user experiencing this, and what are your thoughts?

Best
