Dear all,
I am looking for a cheap full HD video camera writing to a SD card (it cannot be a Hard disk).
The Panasonic HDC-SD7 seems interesting specwise, but I was wondering whether any of you had first hand experience with the beast?
Thank you.
Regards,
Bernard

Forget the question, I choose to invest in a Canon Ivis HF10 instead.

I haven't purchased anything yet, but pretty well decided on the same Canon as soon as it get in stock here in Toronto.

Sounds OK for far but:
- The software provided for video transfer doesn't have a Mac version.
The informal advice of the - helpful - person who answered at Canon was to try out iMovie 08.
- The battery life seems poor.
I need to do more test to see whether the first charge of the battery (I am speaking about the high capacity optional one) improves on this or not.
Cheers,
Bernard

I did try and it seems to work mostly fine. I am seeing some posterizations in very dark areas, but it is difficult to say whether it is a Codec problem, camera issue or some limitations of iMovie 08.
Either way, the detail and sharpness appear to be pretty good when viewed full screen on my iMac 24 inch. I need to test this baby a lot more obviously.
Cheers,
Bernard
