Title: Portrait (Female)
Post by: robackja on January 08, 2008, 04:08:00 pm
I don't particularly like the skin tone in the after, but I am unsure of how to correct skin tone in photoshop. i have to read up, I guess.

40D + 70-200/2.8 IS
1/200 at f/5.6, ISO 100, 200mm

Post Processing
1) Healing tool to remove some blemishes and miscellaneous hair in front of mouth and cheek.
2) Blurred duplicate layer to create softness of skin, masking eyes, mouth, hair and background. Pulling back the opacity to the desired softness.
3) Sharpened the eyes/mouth.
4) Whitened teeth and whites of eyes

What don't you like about the skin tones? I find them quite fine on my end. All and all, it is a very nice casual portrait.

I can't seem to fully preview or post using Firefox. I get nothing but hanging pages when I click either 'preview post or 'add reply'. It also seems to have cut off the last part of my sentence.

So, sorry for the double post. I've come back to edit these from IE7.

I don't mind the skin tone..  but then again, it could be my monitor is different from yours.  The only thing I don't like is that the teeth are too white.  They are so white that your attention is drawn to the teeth rather than the eyes (windows to the soul and all that).  She has a beautiful smile and doesn't need the extra attention drawn to it.

I made a couple of corrections via layers.  Below is the jpeg, the layered version (1MB)  is available at this link:

Well thanks for the feedback. My problem with the skin tone was I thought it got a little too pink-ish. And I would agree with the teeth being too white. Its a good point to keep to focus on the eyes.

thanks again. feedback is always appreciated.

@alainbriot thanks for PSD. I will check it out this afternoon.
