I think Paul Caponigro is about as good as photographers get nowadays. . . .
He can do more with less than anyone I've ever seen.
I agree completely. I have one of his prints, and I had the good fortune to take a workshop from him back in the 60s. If you get a chance, see some of his recent work in a gallery or museum. He had a show in Portland, Maine, not too long ago, and I made a trip up to see it, since I hadn't seen his work in a long time. I had high expectations, but I was completely blown away by his prints. The reproductions in View Camera are excellent -- but still nothing like the real thing.

I think Paul Caponigro is about as good as photographers get nowadays. After seeing parts of a new portfolio in this month's View Camera, I found that even more of the same portfolio was online here: www.andrewsmithgallery.com
He can do more with less than anyone I've ever seen. His Running White Deer (a print of which I have in my living room) is like a seminar in dr.
