No, but I have printed color on my 4000 and it worked very well.
Of course, with the Ultrachrome inks gloss differential is really quite noticable and I suspect that this will be especially the case with the QTR monochrome prints.
However I suspect that you will probably get about the best mono prints you will see from a 7600 on a gloss paper with this combination.

I decided to order the sample pack after doing some prints with QTR on Ilford Smooth Pearl. Nice print with gradations, no gloss diferential but the bronzing on shadow areas is bad.
We'll see if I have better luck with FBAL.

The metemeric failure with the Epson 4000 and 9600 (K2) inkset is quite bad. Edited profiles help but the move to the 800 (K3) inkset largely did the trick. QTR is pretty good, as not a great deal of coloured ink is used. The more the toning varies from neutral, the more hassle. When I was usingthe 4000 with the old QTR I used a profile for tungsten and one for daylight. Profiles for the x800 inkset are much more difficult , but the problem to solve is less. The x880 printers now coming on line will most probably be similar as the only shift is the new magenta ink. Magenta has not been cause of the colour shifts.
The gloss differential is a function of inks and ink accepting coatings as well as the degree of smoothness. The greater the smoothness, the more differential. This may change with baryta base papers , especially with Harman's nanotechnology coatings.
