Hi Folks:
Wasn't sure where to put this one. A Company out of Chicago called Skyline Design is advertising a product called 'FOTOglas'. From their website:
"FOTOglas is a proprietary process which etches large scale photographic images into the surface of glass. With unlimited custom possibilities, the process may be used creatively to individualize any product.
The results are permanent, translucent and formulated for interior and exterior architectural applications. Images can be etched on one or two sides of the glass and combined with Skyline Designs Vitracolor process for more opacity and color options."

It's not really out there, but to see it applied digitally with photography, might lead to interesting results. It's a shame the examples don't show a little more detail.
