Title: z3100 driver confusion
Post by: casterle on November 01, 2007, 10:49:44 am
HP offers 3 drivers for my z3100ps:

PS3 (preferred, according to the web site)
PCL/Raster
HPGL

Before the update, I'd been using the PS3 driver because the website listed it as preferred. Now I'm considering which driver(s) to use as I'm updating to the new firmware and driver.

I've not been able to find any documentation that answers my questions. I don't mind RTFM, so if there are docs please point me to them.

Can I install multiple drivers?

When I print from, say, PS CS3 to the PS3 driver, does CS3 convert my image to PS3 (EPS?) before sending it to the printer?

Will I get different output (better color/quality) from the different drivers?

Do I need to calibrate/profile for each driver or do profiles work across all drivers?

If I have both the PS3 and PCL driver installed, when would I use one vs the other?

Will one driver be faster than another?

I won't be printing schematics. Is there any reason to install the HPGL driver?

Anything else I should consider?

TIA!
