Title: Low light metering

I use a film camera's in camera spot meter manually to set exposures accurately when shooting slides during the day time. However, the camera's spot meter stops working in low light situations. An off camera spotmeter can work in low light, but how low will it go? Thanks.

The camera spot meter is affected by the lens mounted. A faster lens will let the camera meter work in lower light than a slow one. Handheld meters have a range of sensitivity depending on the model, so there is no one single answer.
