My upcoming exhibition opens on Sat Oct 20th from 4-8pm, at the Queensland Centre for Photography, Bulimba, and runs for 3 weeks until Nov 11.
My exhibition consists of prints as well as extending the application of the photographic medium into sculptural form. I have a sculptural artist book and an installation - a large mirrored box with stainless steel frame, where my images have been laminated into sheets of mirrored glass.
I invite all who would like to come and are in the vicinity.
I would love to meet some fellow LL forumers. :-) so please introduce yourselves and say hi.

Would love to be there but can't be. Good luck with your exhibition.

Wrong side of the world for me, but as Bob said, good luck with your exhibition!

I second that expression of good luck, and add that I admire your get-up-and-go which not all artists have!
A bit distant from Spain...

Ordinarily I'd work something out, but can't make it there due to work. Good luck with it though.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes. Opening night was wonderful and I am thrilled with how my exhibition looks. Something quite magical happens when there is a collection of a body of work in a gallery space.
I will post some images in a few days.

Julie,
It's such a pity that so few members of this forum are from Brisbane, the most livable city in the world with the best climate.
I'm really disappointed I won't be in Brisbane during the period of your exhibition. Photography for me has always been about the exrtroverted part of my character. It motivates me to travel, which is what I'm doing now. I use the camera to record what I find particularly interesting. The fact that the reason it might be interesting might simply be due to unfamiliarity, is not an issue.
I work on the principle, ennunciated by George Bernard Shaw, that the more photos that are taken, the more good photos that will be amongst them.

Nah Ray... don't think we need any more people in Brissie.....Little water supplies, horrific traffic situation and straining infrastructure. Let's keep how beautiful it is here a secret hey! :-)

I don't like the Brisbane airport system. ' Though I have many friends there, and it's really about time I did a weekend trip (Darwin is only a hope skip and a jump away afterall).
I'm also looking forward to a picture of the exhibition.

As promised, a few happy snaps of my exhibition. Quality of snaps not that crash hot, as I used a P&S and no tripod, but was excited about sharing and didn't want to wait until I could do my cataloging images.
To view inside my sculptural installation mirrored box, the viewer is able to step up on to the black steps and platform areas. I have some of my images printed on special film using car paint via nozzles like an inkjet printer and then laminated into mirror backed glass. I will post images of inside of box tomorrow.
Opening night pics to come in a few days when I get files from my friend's camera.

I would like to thank everyone who has posted and contributed to this forum, and most importantly, Michael, for providing this invaluable resource and opportunity for learning, discourse and connection between us all. Having this forum has enabled me to learn how to process and print all my own images and develop my art from vision to exhibition.
Thank you.

Mike, with regard to the mobius, in this body of work I am exploring a passage from William Blake's poem , 'Milton', and in particular - a line which states - ..."The Nature of Infinity is this..." I am exploring ways to represent my photography ( of a vortex in water) in conjunction with the development of an artist book, ie, representing some of Blake's text in a contemporary way.....hence using the 'infinity mobius'. Thus it combines elements of many things; Blake's words, my photographs, contemporary representation of a book (writing and pictures in a sculptural form), and symbolically - "infinity" - where the properties of the mobius have no beginning or end.
Hope this brief explanation helps.
