Title: Donate for a great cause
Post by: jpjespersen on October 11, 2007, 06:52:25 pm
Hello,
I am looking for used digital camera's for donation to the http://www.theIRC.org/slc (http://www.theIRC.org/slc)
I am going to start volunteering for the IRC and a lot of the kids are interested in photography.  I will be donating a D70 and some point and shoot digital camera's.  I am looking for about 10-20 point and shoot digital cameras or SLR's.
If you have been wanting to do something to help youth out, or think that it is important to get youth going down the right path, then please consider donating a camera.  It could greatly change somebody's life.
The first camera I ever picked up was donated by a teacher and it got me going down a career path that has proved to be very successful.
Please consider.
Thanks,
JP Jespersen

c'mon people.  I know some of you have old digital camera's floating around.  I myself had two.  Please donate a camera to possibly help someone in need appreciate photography as much as you do.
Thanks,
JP Jespersen

Hi JP - I've got a little old point and shoot I would be glad to donate. It's a 3.2 mgpx Canon A 510. It uses AA batteries. I'll be happy to pay for the shipping, just e-mail an address to me directly at dweckphoto@comcast.net

Hi,
Thanks a lot.  Not only are you recycling a camera, but you are putting it in the hands of someone who could really benefit from it.  I know there are plenty more camera's out there.  My goal is 20.
Thanks again-
JP Jespersen

C'mon gang! Am I the only person on LL that had a spare point and shoot digital lying around? Don't we have like 30 gazillion members? Let's help JP help some kids.

I don't have a point and shoot to donate, but I think it's a great project.  FYI, we did something similar (probably on a much smaller scale) at a gallery I was co-owner of a few years ago:

http://www.gopacleveland.org/gal_tse.html (http://www.gopacleveland.org/gal_tse.html)

We hosted a show of about 40 11x14 prints of the students work.  We charged a bundle for each print at the fundraiser/opening and had a huge turnout at the opening)

(I don't intend this as an advertisement; the gallery no longer exists.  Just thought you might like to see one example of a similar project)
