Title: Emperor Penguin shots
Post by: Antarctic Mat on September 03, 2007, 12:17:09 pm
Hello.
Last week I managed a trip out to see the local Emperor Penguin colony. It's quite a mission to get there and managed a couple of hours down on the ice as it was very cold.
Here are a few of my shots, any comments appreciated, I'm learning loads from this site so will take criticism on board.

Fantastic!  You did a great job of making them not "just another penguin" photos.  They each have something interesting and beautiful.

It must have been a wonderful experience to see them.

Really nice shots!!

Try in photoshop to lighten the shadows a bit and you will probably see some detail in the black feathers. Except for the extreme cold and spartan living conditions, I'm envious of you.!!

Mat,

You seem to be making Michael's point that the Antarctic isn't just dark, dreary and foreboding

Great shots!!

Thanks for the comments, much appreciated!
I agree John, I'm helping him out! It was our first opportunity to leave base in 5 months and after 115 days of not seeing the sun so we made the most of it!

Thanks again.
Mat.
