Title: online photography courses
Post by: cowboy on August 17, 2007, 10:09:45 pm
I live in the sw corner of Colorado. No offerings of courses at local schools. No camera clubs within 40 miles. Can anyone recommend an online course provider that has quality material and interaction? I am moderately experienced with the camera technical aspects and exposures techniques. I am interested in seeing better from an image capture point of view, compositon and understanding daylight and night work from the stand point of quality of light. I need good feedback on submitted image assignments.
Any and all input welcome.
Thanks for reading this,
 Blackhorse

Maybe some thoughts.
When I got serious in Landscape/Nature  I looked at a few sites, including NY school of Photography.
I ended up purchasing every how to book and video on Exposure, Composition etc. etc.   Then went out and practiced what I read.
We also didn't have a camera club in our area and endeavored to get one started but it seemed I was the only one really interested in pursuing this interest?
You might also take art lessons  from an oil-watercolor painter  you would be surprised on how this could apply to your photography.

Find someone in your area with similar photography interests as yourself and work together on some projects.  If it is nature photography you shouldn't have any problems (being in Co.) finding great places to photograph.
NY school of photography had some merits but really seemed to be overpriced and not the focus I was interested in.

Do a workshop.   Find a workshop (there are a ton of workshops offered in the various magazines) that is of interest.  I have seen many varying subject matters including nature, landscape, portrait, figure, weddings  you name it you probably can find one.

Join a photographic organization with your interests.  The organization probably can also point the way for you.

Then there is the internet.  Many courses that might prove beneficial.

Good luck on your endeavors

They are good. I did some of the CS3 courses. They were excellent. I'm looking for something a little more interactive. Thanks for the reply. I appreciate it.
