Title: Un-centered Printing
Post by: Ken Alexander on August 06, 2007, 05:41:36 pm
Hi Folks,

I have an image that I'd like to make into a homemade greeting card.  I want to print it on an 8-1/2 x 11 sheet such that I can fold the sheet in half, into an 8-1/2 x 5-1/2 inch greeting card and have the image centered on that half page.  The problem is that Aperture wants to center all images on whatever paper it's printing on and won't let me print it offset from the center

I suppose I could trick Aperture and tell it I'm printing on a 8-1/2 x 5-1/2 inch sheet of paper, but then the printer would probably report a paper jam when the paper didn't eject on time.  I haven't tried this yet, but I will if no one has a solution.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Ken

Same as any other app - create a new file 8.5x11 and paste your image into it.  1/2 will simply be blank.  Now print.

Thanks!  I know what you're saying, but it's an extra step I was hoping I wouldn't have to take.  Aperture doesn't appear to have the ability to open a blank document and paste (and position) an image into it.  It means opening a second application, doing what you suggest, then printing.  I'm just being lazy.

I was hoping there would be a way a user could position an image on a sheet of paper when printing from within Aperture, but it appears Aperture will always force the image into the center of the page.

If nothing better comes along I'll do that.

Thanks again,

Ken
