Correct me I'm wrong, but didn't I read somewhere that Jeff and Michael were going to produce a new video tutoral called something like 'From Shoot to Print'. Have I got this wrong and if not any ideas when we can expect the video?

You're right, that was mentionned and as far as I remember it was expected to be available toward the end of the summer.

May 30, 2007 – Photoshop News Story on LL Gallery Opening, & Slide Show
Jeff Schewe was in town last week to film a major new tutorial with me, titled – From Camera to Print – The Luminous Landscape Guide to Inkjet Printing. This will be a marathon (5 – 6 hour) download video which should be available here later this summer, once editing has been completed.

Thanks for that - confirmation that I wasn't imagining the whole thing :-)
-
Perhaps, Michael or Chris could give us an update about this video tutorial?
-
I am just titling and encoding the Tutorial - all six hours and 40 minutes of it. Likely the video 'From Camera To Print' will start to be made available around the end of July within a couple of weeks

Chris,
This is just great! Keep up the good work.
-
Fantastic!
-
Thanks Chris - very helpful. One final question: over at the Adobe Lightroom forum there is much discussion regarding Epson printers when printing from Lightroom. There are many tales of woe that I won't go into here, but as it concerns the video - do Jeff and Michael go into detail on how to set up both Lightroom and your Printer for effective printing?

absolutely...
in detail in both CS2 & CS3, Lightroom, Mac OS X and Windows

Excellent news - thanks again.
-
Awesome---can't wait.
Mike and Jeff together make great, very comprehensive, and entertaining tutorials. And don't leave out Chris, in the background, without whom nothing would come together in such a great set of presentations - let's give Chris some credit also.

We give him some of the money...does that count?
:~)
-
hurray! 6 hours and 40 minutes of learning and polishing my (presumably working) knowledge on digital printing! Can't wait for the download!
Thank you for the hard work
-
Exactly how big is this file? I need to know if I have to delete some files or get another hard drive?
Thanks,
Jay

My guess would be around 2.5GB-3GB.
-
There will be a total of 24 tutorial files, which will be bundled into 8 ZIP files. (3 files to a zip). Chris is working on the compression as we speak (write, type, whatever).
Each ZIP will be about 300MB. So, Francoise's guess is accurate; somewhere between 2 and 3GB.

Will a version be prepared for authoring to video DVDs?
-Sean [www.larkvi.com]
-
Probably not, though we haven't discussed it. To do this would require a great deal of work in re-encoding the master.
This tutorial doesn't need higher resolution, since content is king, not visuals.

Entirely the correct way of thinking IMHO.
I do hope future LLVJ 'Location Shoots' will be of at least DVD quality though

They will be. And more!

AWESOME!!!

The capture one, is included?
Thank You

[a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=129495\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a]
Are you asking if we covered Capture One for output? If so, no...I'm not sure you can even print from Capture One, can you?
We really don't cover getting digital images into a form that are printable except for optimizing images for tone and color and using soft proofing and those activities are primarily a function of Photoshop. We do cover using Lightroom's Print module and the strengths/weaknesses when compared to Photoshop.
There are a lot of ways to get images into Photoshop for printing...we concentrate on what to do with and to the pixels so they print optimally.

Sounds like just the right coverage to me, and just right for 6 hours and 40 minutes (to include capture and all the usual PS stuff would surely take more like 6 days and 40 hours!)
I am really looking forward to this. Thanks, guys, for all your efforts.
-
Mr. Schewe,
I ask if Capture one, will be cavered to processed
The reason I ask it's.. The title say, "From Camera to Print."
Now I used Capture one to processed my raw files
I'm in the list to get the 6 hours in 40 Minutes
Thank You
BlasR

Perhaps you'll need to introduce a BitTorrent server to distribute these more efficiently!!!!

eagerly looking forward to it!!
There is no additional information though. What about the cost, is there any waiting list or something? Can I start downloading as soon as it is available? etc
-
We cannot wait - keep checking to see if it is here yet.
One quick question, however, will this video be added to the Big Kahuna series, to purchase all together?
I am really considering that instead of buying them one by one, but, will buy the package and the add-on from Camera to Print, if I have to
Thanks for all your hard work - we appreciate it!

The entire tutorial should be available here this coming weekend. Chris is just finishing encoding the last few segments.
The price Will be US $25 during August, going up to $30 on September 1st.
Capture One is mentioned, but it is not covered in detail. The reason is that 3.x is now quite old, and 4.0 has not yet been released. We focus our attention on Camera Raw and Lightroom. Aperture is not covered because it is Mac only. Everything we cover is available for both platforms and includes the latest versions.
When capture One 4.0 finally ships I would hope to do a comprehensive tutorial at that time.

Hello again,
I have some problem reading ,Michael's post.
He say will be $25.00 dollars.
$25.00 that is all?
If that is all, I do not remember last time I got a present like that.
Thank You
BlasR

If you find it too inexpensive you are welcome to purchase it more than once.
Remarkable as it sounds, we get complaints from people that our various products, DVDs and downloads, are too expensive for them. So, because we want this new tutorial to be as widely available as possible we have priced it at the low end of the range.
Enjoy.

I'm not sure whether to salivate more in anticipation of this tutorial or of the next LLVJ.
I hope to be one of the first 50 (or at least first 5000) to place an order!
-
Eric,
You are from Newton,MA
you should pay little be more, people from there got cash.
I will be the first one
if not I will be numero uno.
Gracias a Chris, he will send it to me, before anyone else find out.
BlasR
-
BlasR,
If I get mine before you do, I'll rent you my copy (at a very high price.)
After I've watched it, of course.
-
Erik,
You can not rent it to me ...I got it already.
What is going on?
I have been here for more then 39 hours and 1/2, waiting for the download and nothing happen.
I think after all I will get it, for $55.00 still a present no?
BlasR
-
Try and get some sleep. It will now probably be some time over the weekend before it becomes available.
Also the price will be changed slightly, but when you find out why I think you'll be very pleased.

Bit confused here. Store says $34.95 but Michael said it would be $25.00 in Aug going to $30 in Sept. I'm quite sure it's well worth it at $35 but I just want to make sure it wasnt a typo before I make the purchase. Thanks.

I'm not to happy,

The pricing is correct at $34.95 and Michael will explain all later today on What's New...

We have placed the new tutorial online this morning (Eastern time) but will not be announcing its availability until later today at the earliest. The reason for this is we want to be sure that all systems are operating smoothly before large numbers of people start downloading the 2GB+ of files.
The price has been raised slightly. The reason for this is because we are announcing simultaneous with the new tutorial a very exciting new Endowment Fund, which will be making grants available to photographers around the world to finance photographic projects.
We were planning on charging $25 during August, as a special promotion, and then raising the price to $30 thereafter. Now, because of the launch of the Endowment Fund, we have revised the price to $35, and it will remain at that level.
Watch for the formal announcement of both the Tutorial and the Endowment Fund later today.
Michael
-
Personally I'm cool with the price of $35, as it's well worth it as are all your other products...but if I were you I would never correlate a price increase to a forced donation - it doesn't sit well with many people, including myself. I'm all for donation opportunity, as long as it's voluntary. If you as a company wanted to donate a certain percentage of your sales (see how that's worded better) to a fund, more power to you. Just try not to make it sound like your customers are doing all the work.
Downloading now!
-
My post was largely answered above.
The programme looks great -- thanks.
-
Ok,,I pay & I can't download it.. Erik around getting it all?
Could you please help me.
Thank You
BlasR
-
Hey Chris - you forgot to get rid of the . mac temp files again - might want to fix that before you get more questions/complaints.
Excellent vid quality! I'm already watching #1 on the big screen
-
We are not forcing anyone to donate to anything. WE are making the donation, as you will see when the formal announcement is made.
The price that was mentioned here was our thinking last week. Our thinking has changed since, and with the launch of the new Endowment program has been raised slightly.
The video tutorial still offers tremendous value.
Here (http://www.luminous-landscape.com/about/endowment.shtml) is a link to the Endowment announcement that will be made formally in a few hours. I believe that once you read it you will understand that value in what were attemtpting to do.
Michael
-
I'm not trying to argue, really!
I'm just saying that your wording comes off a certain way - I know that YOU are making the donation. Just re-read your post...
"The price has been raised slightly...We were planning on charging $25...Now, because of the launch of the Endowment Fund, we have revised the price to $35"
I also understand that because you tried to accomodate customers asking for advanced information, and circumstances since changed before release, that you obviously need to explain the higher than expected price.
I admit I tried thinking of a better phrase to express your intent, and at the moment can not...
-
I have now announced the new tutorial and the Endowment program in a separate topic here on the forum. Since this thread is quite long winded and is in some ways superseded by the launch, I'm suggesting that further discussion about it be moved to the new thread. (http://luminous-landscape.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=18464)
I'll be making a formal announcement on What's New later today.
