Title: Just an old cabin

Would like advice for reshooting this old line shack.  My goal would be to put it in my keeper file.  Other than shooting at dusk/dawn, what should I do different?

For starters try different compositions:

get rid of stuff in the corners i.e. the tree limb in the upper left corner.

If there are any flowers blooming shoot low to the ground with the flower in the foreground   either to the right or left of the frame (be carefull with dof).

Try framing the imaging with something.

Low light for color. (early morning or early evening)

Try getting closer (so that there is more of the cabin in the image (it appears that the ground is blocking the lower part of the cabin?)

Basically think about why are you shooting this and try different angles and compositions.

you might also try real close capturing the texture of the old wood in the cabin.
try to find a subject to center on.

Yeah, I agree.  One thing I would try is walking inside the cabin and shooting out, using the door frame as a frame for the image, using the tops of the walls as a base for the sky... but definitely get in closer and looks for what's unique about this place.

You are to far from the subject. Also the lighting is to harsh. Go back early and maybe you will get lucky and a mist will be in the field.
