Hi
Yes you can, I think it is custom function 18. You can either the focus on the rear or the front part of the body. I have both my ZD & AFDII set on the rear. What is nice about this is that I have my Canon 5D set the same way but with Canon it is either the shutter of the rear.

Hi
No, the AF is only on the shutter release.
Thanks Denis

I recently bought a Mamiya 645AFDII to replace an old and broken 645AF.

I've read the manual, but I can't find any reference to using the rear button to activate auto-focus.

Can someone enlighten me?

Hi

Look at page 91 of the manual C-18. I think it is third over Lock AE. I have my AFDII focus set on the AE lock button.

Many thanks - I've got it now! Somehow I missed these capabilities when I first read through the manual.

C-18 takes autofocus off the shutter release.

Then C-17 allows you to choose either the front or rear button for autofocus.

(Discovered by trial and error - the manual doesn't really spell it out.)
