Michael;
When are you going to tell us about this new film camera you mentioned the other day?
Cheers Paul
-
Does it have a built-in printer?
-
No hints.
I'll be working with it beginning next week on a shoot in Washington state, and will likely have a report here around the end of the month.
And, just for the record, I've never really stopped shooting film. Just slowed down a bit. This new camera can do things that digital can't (at least not easily), so I'm back to spending serious money on film and processing, and scanning. Oh joy.

Well, I would characterize it a bit more severe than "Just slowed down a bit." I don't recall you lugging any film to Antarctica...
:~)
No hints.
Ah, come on Mikey...you can do better than that...how about..."your new film camera will go through a lot of film just for one shot"?

I recently unearthed an opened blister-pack of Kodalux PK-36 chrome development mailers, four left. I was going to trash them, but maybe I should put them up in eBay .
What do they say about the two happiest days of a boat owner being the day they buys the boat and the day they sell it? Substitute "Jobo ATL-3 Processor" for boat in my case, except I actually gave it away.
I guess I was too subtle in my post implying this was in the wrong forum, or are you guys just ignoring my cleverness ...

Jeff...
Spoilsport!
Now everyone will know it's a Holga.

You are quite right Djgarcia, it´s on the wrong forum. I was reading some post round here and remembered Michael´s post in the "What´s new" last week, forgot all about the diferent forums and posted it straight off without thinking.

Where in Washington State are you headed?
Things in our neck of the country have been beautiful lately. I love spring!

The Palouse, Glacer N.P., and depending on timing Mt. Rainier NP and North Cascades NP/ Sawtooth Wilderness. We have about 5 days.
It's not a workshop, just 6 friends / photographers, two SUVs, and a hunger for some mountain shooting.

How about [a href=\"http://www.3dworld.cn/show_product_detail_en.asp?id=65]this[/url]? A lot more fun than a Holga.

Going on a shoot with Michael can be "invigorating" (and sometimes expensive when he trashes the undercarriage of a rental) but one thing you gotta know, he moves swift and shoots hard...and if ya don't have the gumption and energy to keep up, ya better not get in his way....about the only people I've seen out shoot Michael was Seth Resnick (and sometimes me-although not for sunrises I like sunsets) and perhaps Bill Atkinson-who can at least out talk Michael if not outlast him.

Aw, Jeff. You're giving away my secrets.
But, truth be told, my motto is... "If the light's not happening here, it's happening somewhere else. Let's go!".
Michael

My motto is a complement - "It may be bad for my health but man is it going to look good!" ...
-
Oh I love both mottos ;-)

re: Going on a shoot with Michael can be "invigorating"
An often overlooked and underappreciated aspect of photography is the energy it takes to hunt down and capture a great shot. Photographers the caliber of Michael, Seth Resnick, and Bill Atkinson must burn a lot of fuel (calories) keeping vigilant for the not so obvious shot. Then, moving equipment and self in position to pull the trigger. Too often I dismiss a shot because I’m out of gas and don’t even try. I’ve started a walking exercise program this summer, 4 miles three or four times a week. It's beginning to pay off.

It is more about getting out of the vehicle to take a shot before Michael gets back in the vehicle and leaves you behind!!

Michael:
My bet is on a view camera first since it better fits both the "can (more easily) do things digital can't" and "serious money" comments. Holga would be a distant second guess unless Michael is shooting 2 ROLLS for every set up
FWIW on the "can do more easily than digital" side, is precisely why I went back to shooting 4x5 and 8x10 over a year ago; I love having the movements! I will add that processing and scanning film *totally sucks* relative to processing raw digital files (but the results are usually worth it for the images it makes sense on)!
Can't wait to hear more!
Cheers,

If and when I ever get a chance to shoot with Michael, I'll be sure to pocket the keys whenever I get out of the vehicle!
