Title: Why does not LR read changed .Nef ?
Post by: kursad on April 27, 2007, 04:37:44 am
I sometimes try to do simple changes like colors-contrast(nothing complicated just raw adjustments) etc in Capture Nx. But LR does not read those changes , first time i open it in lightroom it looks like it is reading but then the second i goto develope, LR resets settings to original nef file. Is there a solution to this?

Nx and LR use entirely different raw conversion engines. Their settings are not interchangeable. It is the same way with any raw converter you use. Whatever you do in one, will not be shown in another.

The reason you initially see your NX adjustments in LR is that LR uses the embedded jpeg for a preview until it can render it's own.

Thank you for the great explanation.

I hope that things will be more even in the future
