Hi,
I took the following image as raw. I originally under exposed the image so that when it would be developed and the exposure setting increased, noise would become more visible (I don't like the look of PShop noise). I then intended to turn it into a black white photo. When I took a look in raw development I quite liked the colour version. So I'm giving it over to you guys BW or colour which one do you prefer? Please not for some reason i.e. darkens and saturates the images, best viewed in Pshop

And being a beginner the third is just for your comments and critique to help me improve:-) : -

My opinion.
The girl's hair is underexposed, leaving it mainly a textureless black mass. There is a nice rim light to seperate her hair from the guy behind her. The stray hair on her face is not attractive, especially the strands across her left eye. The background is jumbled up with people. They are too in-focus and distracting. I keep looking at them instead of just the subject. I realize this is a candid outdoor portrait, but you might be more careful with the details.
The third image is just a bird. Nothing very special to set it apart. The bird's beak is out of focus. Somebody will like that because it adds depth, but ... . The bird is a very mature subject Lot's of bird iamges) with a very immature image. There needs to be some interest - reason to look at the photo.

Back to the drawing board, or should it be the viewfinder:-)

You've got some motion blur from not holding the camera steady on both shots. Try adding grain as a separate layer instead of underexposing intentionally. Doing it on a separate layer let's you change the opacity and even blur it a bit if you want.

So you got some bad critiques and took down the photos? Take it like a man !

Hahaha they should still be there!:-)
