Title: Ocean Baths
Post by: robertvine on April 14, 2007, 02:23:11 am
I took this shot about two years ago. I knew a lot less about photography at that time and as such this was not captured as best as it could have been. It is now my favourite and most popular photograph and would appreciate any comments, especially those that relate to post-processing.

Thank you for posting your image Robert. I really like the composition , but don't go for the colours much. How about a B&W?

The sky across most of the top of the image has blown out to white, I would suggest copying the image into a new layer in photoshop, flipping it vertically, setting blending mode to color and then painting back some of the blue into the upper half of the picture - not a lot but enough to mirror the reflection in the pool in the bottom.

I would then clone out the spot lights on the ships to the right of the image.

Otherwise it is rather nice.

Don't clone out the spotlights!  They are cool.

Thanks, I haden't thought about doing a clone by flipping. After a few years of cloning and not cloning out the ships I have decided to leave them in. There are about 60 off the coast of Newcastle!

Maybe I'm going blind, but I don't see any blown out white areas. As for the lights on the ships, they're fine the way they are. I would leave it just the way it is. Nice work!

My monitor shows it go to a bright pink but not white. Pity I didn't have a grad ND back then!
