Title: Chromatic noise effect in B/W with LR
Post by: alain_lestrade on March 04, 2007, 05:28:07 am
Hi everybody, I'm a newby at luminous landscape

In LR B4, there was the very interesting possibility to use the chromatic noise reduction even in grayscale: It's important to have it because the grayscale mixer can affect even strongly the chromatic noise. the structure of granulates cannot be softened anymore with LR V1.0! I'm really very disappointed by this situation.

Actually, it's more than a disappointment: a part of my works processed in LR B4 isnot usable anymore due to the phenomenon!

See the difference between B4 & V1.0 here:

.

The two photos on the right of the gallery, the difference is clearly visible even with low res photos for the web!

I hope you, Luminous landscape specialists, were a solution to that; Please, reply me! I'm really, really very sad! and nobody on other forums seems to be interested by the topic.

Regards,

Alain.

Simple solution: Apply noise reduction before you convert to grayscale.

Yes, true, I already did for 8 bits photos, but, first of all, it means that the workflow becomes a little bit heavy, and secondly I've only Neat Image for 8 bits, no more, incompatible with raw files, Thirdly, the chromatic noise reduction in LR is, oh, sorry! WAS quite efficient for the B&W chromatic granulates, really.

Alain.
