Title: xti to computer image discrepancy
Post by: jettx on March 01, 2007, 05:47:00 pm
i'm using a canon xti.
for some reason, when i view my pictures on the camera lcd they are much brighter than when i view them on my computer.
i'm quite certain i did not have this problem before

just as a note: it seems to be a problem with contrast rather than simply the lcd's brightness

anyone have any suggestions, ideas on how to fix this?
thanks

Your camera is probably set for a different color space than your monitor,  need to calibrate monitor to begin with.
There is plenty on the subjects right here on LL

It isn't going to happen.

The rear lcd simply isn't accurate.  Beyond which there is no way of knowing if your monitor is accurate or not as you've stated you've no profiling tools and do not intend to buy any.

Perhaps with the changing of seasons your lighting is different enough that the displays no longer appear to match.  But as a general rule you shouldn't expect them to.  Use the histogram to judge exposure.

I'm with Dark on this. The only thing I use the image on the LCD for on my 5D is to know whether I was pointing the camera in the right general direction. What I look at more carefully is the histogram. That's useful.

guess it's time for me to finally put that histogram to use
