hey, i am about to buy a macbook or macbook pro 17inch and keep hearing about issues when shooting tethered to a pahse one back/firewire power issue. I am shooting with the canon 1dsmk2 right now but will be buying a P21 or P25 back soon and dont want to have issues when shooting tethered........does it matter which macbook I buy? I heard the 17inch Mcbk pro only benefit is for video. help!

I have the black (slightly faster) Macbook and can shoot tethered with a Leaf 65. No problems with firewire.

Same setup here with a Hasselblad H3D-39. No problems at all.

i have the 15"...shot today all day tethered...i have never had a problem with any of my MBPs and phase backs....none whatsoever.....i have the 15" because i feel it is a little easier to handle and transport...used to have a 17" G4 and was always worried about it....the 15 is just as fast ....and i have it hooked up to my 24"eizo anyway.....i have 3gb ram and 2 7200rpm/100gb drives....one for system one for capture....works great...yester and today i shot into LR for the first time...works perfectly...of course you have to go through C1 to be tethered, but the files pop up in LR, with the setting attached...
the processor in the MBP is the same as in the MB....so if oyu have the same HD in there, cature should be the same.....i have been thinking of getting hte Modbook for capture/as a "screen" for the P30.....

Since you asked about the Mac Book Pro 17in, I can personally tell you the 17in has problems connected to an Aptus 75 when on battery. I have no problems when I am plugged into an outlet.
