Title: Florida galleries at my website
Post by: Martijn Smeets on February 24, 2007, 09:10:27 am
I published my third serie of photos about Florida on my website (Martijn Smeets Fotografie (http://www.msphotographics.nl)).

Here are the direct links to the photo series in my galleries:
Florida (pictures of Miami, Juniper Springs, Beaches and a lot more) (http://www.msphotographics.nl/fotografie/florida-miami-stranden-juniper/1.htm)
The Florida Keys (http://www.msphotographics.nl/fotografie/florida-keys/1.htm)
Saturday Nite Cruise in Old Town (Kissimmee), Florida (http://www.msphotographics.nl/fotografie/saturday-nite-cruise-old-town/1.htm)

Please let me know what you think of these pictures!

I like some of the more off-beat (semi-abstract) ones a lot, the first link being the most rewarding; the touristy scenes are a bit "meh".

As series, I think you could do a lot to arrange them in a more enticing way though, rather than jumbled up. They are stronger seen together than apart, and could be stronger still with some judicious editing (of the series, not the photos themselves)

Very nicely done. I really like this one:

How did you do the coloring on the buildings and in the water and change the rest to B&W. I have done some things like this, but the water coloring impressed me.

Thanks for the great gallery, I will visit again and browse some more when I get more time.

Thanks for the reply Lois! I think you're right on the arrangement. On the other hand, I want the thumbnail view to look interesting. Showing a couple of related images next to eachother (such as the lifeguard house) will make a lot less interesting.
It's hard to come up with an arrangement that really persuades the viewer to click on the thumbnails and keep on viewing the others and at the same time present a consistent serie.

However, I'm currently making a printed album of the Florida pictures. In that case the arrangement right after eachother is very interesting indeed.

If you have any idea how I can get this to work in my gallery, please let me know!

Very nice to hear mwookie!

The shot on the Miami Boulevard was taken through Adobe Lightroom. The only thing I did was reducing the saturation levels of the colours blue, cyan and magenta to -100 and still keping the green, yellow and red colours.

I do this a lot with my images. It gives rather regular and standard images a nice and unique look, making them a lot more interesting than the original.
